You should bring your child in for their first examination when their first tooth or teeth erupt or by the time they turn one.
Providing dental care for children is integral to our treatments here at Rothwell Dental Care and Implant Centre.
At Rothwell Dental Care and Implant Centre, we want to help ensure the long-term oral health of all our patients, particularly our youngest patients.
Our team understands that true preventive dental care starts at the earliest possible age when we can help prevent the need for any future intervention through consistent direct care, including yearly or twice-yearly examinations and regular hygiene appointments.
FAQs
When should children start seeing the dentist?
How often should children visit the dentist?
It’s important for children to be seen regularly by the dentist, so we recommend twice-yearly dental examinations.
What kind of treatments do you provide for children?
Aside from their regular check-ups and hygiene appointments, children often need treatments such as fillings, fissure sealants, and fluoride treatments. We will also be able to determine when and if they might need orthodontic treatment.
How should children care for their teeth at home?
Getting into a routine of looking after their oral care is very important for children. This will help instil good habits and hopefully help to ensure their long-term oral health. We recommend brushing the teeth twice daily for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste.
Children under the age of six should be supervised when doing so, and toddlers should use just a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on a small brush. We also recommend wiping off babies’ gums after feeding, as this can help prevent bacteria from forming and building up.
