These implants are usually made up of a titanium screw which is placed in the jaw to act as the new root of the tooth, and a crown or prosthetic tooth that is held in place on top of it.
Single-tooth dental implants provide the most durable and natural-looking option when replacing a single tooth.
Living with missing or severely damaged teeth can be incredibly difficult, whether it’s just one or several. At Rothwell Dental Care and Implant Centre, we’re skilled at dealing with tooth replacement and consider dental implants the gold standard replacement option. Looking and acting just as the natural tooth does, a single-tooth dental implant can be cared for easily and, if well looked, will last a lifetime.

FAQs
What are single-tooth dental implants made of?
Why use titanium?
Titanium is a body-safe material that fuses well with the natural jawbone in a process referred to as ‘osseointegration’.
Is the treatment painful?
We know this kind of extensive treatment can be daunting, but there’s no need to worry about pain during treatment as we’ll administer anaesthetic to ensure you’re comfortable throughout. There may be some pain after the treatment at the site of implantation, but this can usually be treated with ibuprofen or paracetamol, as well as a steroid, to keep any post-operative discomfort to a minimum.
What if I need a tooth taken out?
If we’re replacing a tooth that’s still in situ but damaged or diseased beyond repair, then we will extract it for you here at the practice. In some instances, we can replace the tooth with an implant immediately. In other cases, we may have to wait 10 weeks or so before placing the implant, but we will place a temporary bridge or denture in the meantime.
What is the recovery time like?
You should start feeling better yourself after 2-3 days. Before this, you will likely experience some pain, discomfort and sensitivity at the treatment site, but in most cases, this can be treated with over-the-counter painkillers and will go away naturally. If the pain persists, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
