The treatment for veneers is permanent, although the veneers themselves do not last forever and usually have to be replaced within 10 years of application.
If you’re unhappy with your smile due to cosmetic imperfections, veneers can help produce the smile you’ve dreamed of.
Designed to help address cosmetic imperfections and cover up aesthetic issues, veneers are usually made of ultra-thin porcelain or composite resin layers. In both cases, we can help create a brand new smile for patients in just a few appointments.
Veneers can address the following:
- Stains and discolouration.
- Small gaps.
- Chips.
- Cracks.
- Some overlapping or overcrowding issues.
- General wear and tear.
Benefits of veneers:
- Mimic the shade, shape, and surface of a natural tooth.
- Made of non-porous materials, they’re stain-resistant.
- Non-irritable for the gums.
- Produce a straighter, brighter, more even-looking smile in less time.
FAQs
Are veneers permanent?
Is the treatment painful?
No, this treatment will not be painful as we’ll first administer local anaesthetic.
Will the enamel of my teeth have to be removed?
When applying porcelain veneers, we do have to remove a tiny amount of enamel to ensure proper application. However, this is less than a millimetre.
Should I get porcelain or composite veneers?
This is a personal choice and will depend on what you’re looking for or worried about. Porcelain is more durable and can last longer than composite, but because it’s a permanent treatment, this can cause some worry or trepidation in some patients.
Composite veneers, however, are a reversible treatment that can provide patients with a certain amount of peace of mind if they’re concerned about this.
Can I whiten my veneers?
Neither porcelain nor composite responds to teeth whitening treatments. If you’re thinking about both veneers and teeth whitening treatments, we must first carry out the whitening treatment to appropriately shade-match your veneers.
